My blocks...

My plan was to have a blanket with just classic granny squares as I love the simplicity of them, but I also want to somehow mark the first of each month and important days. I don't want any particular blocks to stand out from one another, so this is what I've gone for...

So you know this is the day to day square!

I'm using this pattern for the first of each month, two rounds of subtle circles, then back to the usual granny patten.

And this will be the block I'll use for our birthdays. Half granny, half solid granny.

I will be doing something slightly different for our anniversary, which is only a few weeks away so not long till you can see my idea :)

  1. Oh i really love how you have chosen squares to represent different things, I have added extra squares to represent birthdays of my family members...I will have two birthdays to show in my next blog post! But I am using the mood of that day with the pattern I've used to represent birthdays!

    1. Thank you Hazel! I'm pleased as they don't distract you eye when looking at the blanket as a whole (well so far)!
Love your idea! And looking forward to seeing your approach! X
