My wool/yarn winder!

Just before Christmas I came across some pictures through my IG feed of these weird looking contraptions. After a bit more nosing and coming across the lovely Girly bunches YouTube video about them, I just had to give one a go! This morning my postie finally brought it round! Since opening it this morning, I've spend every spare second winding winding winding!! Even Big Pip had a little go!

So yes, the winding was great fun, and the yarn cakes are cute, but what about actually using them?? Well, what can I say?!?! It's amazing!! I've only made one block so far with one, but I'm already in love! No tugging at the ball or chasing it around the room! It's stayed in the exact same spot and released the yarn like a dream! I highly recommend buying one! Mine was the cheapest one I found on amazon, a Vktech wool winder for £12. Go for it!

  1. I have yarn winder envy! I keep seeing pics of these on IG too, I want one so much! Supposed to be trying not to spend money right now but £12 is a bargain! Xxx

  3. I bought a yarn winder a few months ago and think it's amazing. I love making my yarn cakes with it and I no longer have to take huge fat balls of yarn out and about. Just these little dinky ones that don't take up half as much room.
Would definitely recommend them to yarn lovers.
Have fun with your and have a great weekend.

  4. Nice! I love it!
Here in Argentina many yarns came in "madejas" (you can see the material in this post http://lindocachivache.blogspot.com.ar/2013/11/esperando-la-bebe.html") so there is no way to use the yarn if you don't "bake the cakes" with the yarn winder or manually. (Last option is a hard work!)
I have an add on to get the "madeja" strenght. The cats that live at home love the moment i use the YW because a little thread use to flyes in circles while I'm using it.

    Happy you can get one!
    Have a wonderful sunday!

  5. So glad to hear this. Mine is still sitting new in the box and I have been so busy with doctor appointments that I have not had a chance to use it yet and was wondering if I had made a bad decision with the purchase. Yeah...
